Meet Lisa: A Journey of Strength, Faith, and Growth
Hello friends! My name is Lisa, and I was born in 1982. I grew up in a home where discipline and love went hand in hand. My father was firm but fair, and though his methods might seem old-fashioned today, they shaped me into the strong, grounded woman I am. From a young age, I learned about respect, responsibility, and the importance of accountability — lessons that have served me throughout my life.
After leaving home, I pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering. It was a challenge stepping into a field that wasn’t always welcoming to women at the time, but I’ve always had a bit of determination in my spirit. I loved solving problems, understanding how things worked, and pushing boundaries — not just in machines, but in myself. That same drive to build and fix would later carry over into every area of my life, especially marriage and family.
2 years into college, In 2003, I married my best friend — my husband and partner in all things. Before we married we agreed what our roles and responsibilities would be. He would be the head of the house and I was his partner who helps our family succeed.
From the very beginning, our relationship was built on trust, structure, and deep mutual respect. We learned early on that love isn’t always easy, but it’s worth every bit of effort. Our marriage has weathered challenges, celebrated victories, and deepened over time in ways that words can hardly describe.
We’ve been blessed with three amazing children: one son who’s now in college, and two daughters who are both in high school. Motherhood has been my greatest teacher. Watching my kids grow has reminded me daily that family is both the hardest and most rewarding engineering project there is. Every day brings something new — laughter, learning, and the beautiful chaos of life under one roof.
My journey hasn’t been without its trials. I’m a two-time ovarian cancer survivor, and those battles changed me in ways I never expected. They stripped away the unimportant things and left me with a clearer sense of purpose. I learned to find beauty in small moments, to appreciate health and time, and to trust that faith and love are stronger than fear. My second bout with cancer put our routine in discipline on hold for over a year.
Today, I teach high school students — a job that feels like both a calling and a privilege. I love watching young minds come alive with curiosity and seeing them grow in confidence. My classroom is filled with structure, humor, and heart — just like my home. I hope my story shows them that strength isn’t about never falling; it’s about getting back up, again and again.
So that’s me — Lisa. Wife, mom, teacher, engineer at heart, and survivor. I believe in accountability, faith, and love that endures through life’s hardest seasons. This blog is a place where I’ll share lessons, reflections, and maybe a few stories from the journey. I’m glad you’re here to walk alongside my discipline journey.
